ENWIN is informing customers that the utility is aware of the recent riverbank collapse at the Detroit Bulk Storage property in Michigan.

According to the Essex Region Conservation Authority's (ERCA’s) Source Water Protection Plan, the location of the incident is significantly downstream from ENWIN’s system, and should pose no threat to Windsor’s drinking water intake, located in the Detroit River. The Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) has also confirmed that there is no threat to the local water supply.

Based on the information provided by these provincial government agencies, ENWIN is advising that the water produced and distributed to its customers is safe for consumption.

Nevertheless, out of an abundance of caution, ENWIN has commenced additional special testing of the drinking water intake, and will continue to monitor the situation, communicate with the MECP, and provide updates to the public, as they are available.
