Riley Robitaille, a student-athlete and emerging leader from Windsor, Ontario, received the ENWIN Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility (EDIA) Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship, awarded by ENWIN Utilities Ltd., supports four students annually from Windsor-Essex who are entering post-secondary STEM programs and who reflect a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

Now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics with a business minor at the University of Windsor, Robitaille graduated from Riverside Secondary with a 92 per cent average and has consistently maintained Honour Roll standing. She is also a U Sports Academic All-Canadian — an honour recognizing varsity athletes who achieve an 80 per cent average or higher while competing at the highest level of university sport.

Although she didn’t compete in track and field during high school, Robitaille quickly found success at the university level. She earned a bronze medal at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships in the pentathlon, showcasing her adaptability and drive.

Her dedication doesn’t stop at academics or athletics. Robitaille has contributed more than 300 volunteer hours to local organizations, including animal shelters and youth sports programs. Her leadership in school athletic councils and mentorship roles reflects a deep commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for others.

“Giving back to my community has always been important to me,” she said. “Whether I’m coaching young athletes or volunteering at a shelter, I want to create spaces where everyone feels supported.”

The ENWIN EDIA Scholarship prioritizes applicants from equity-deserving groups—such as women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, and visible or racial minorities—and those who demonstrate leadership in promoting inclusion. Robitaille’s volunteerism and advocacy made her a natural fit.

Balancing three part-time jobs while studying and training, Robitaille says the scholarship had a significant impact. “It allowed me to reduce my work hours and focus more on my goals,” she said. “It also made me more aware of career opportunities in health and safety at ENWIN, which aligns with my interest in workplace wellness and ergonomics.”

Robitaille plans to apply to chiropractic college after completing her undergraduate degree and is also exploring postgraduate studies in biomechanics. Her recent invitation to attend the Team Canada Bobsleigh and Skeleton prospect camp speaks to her versatility and determination.

Robitaille’s story reflects the spirit of the ENWIN EDIA Scholarship: supporting students who are breaking barriers and leading with purpose in their academic, athletic, and community pursuits.
