Windsor, ON: The chilly temperatures were no match for the hot cocoa, sweet treats and pounding hearts at this year’s Earth Hour celebration. The event took place Saturday night at Charles Clark Square. People from Windsor and area, along with volunteers from ENWIN, City of Windsor and Caesars Windsor Cares Code Green met in the square to celebrate our connection to nature and the importance of raising climate change awareness.

The music began, as the lights were turned off, at 8:30 p.m. A short time later, Sue Sanity led the excited crowd in a glow-in- the-dark pound fitness session.

Visitors met with the AM800 A-Team, charged their mobile devices by pedaling on a kinetic bicycle, got an up-close look at an electric vehicle and created glow-in-the-dark art. They also enjoyed a science presentation from Mad Science and took the Earth Hour pledge.

Earth Hour has been celebrated in Windsor since 2009, turning off all non-essential City lights to highlight to our commitment to working together as a community, to conserve all our precious commodities and natural resources and ensure the future of our community and our planet.
