ENWIN Lights up the Night for Maryvale

August 22, 2017

Windsor ON: Congratulations to all our ENWIN Night Lighters, who laced up their runners on Saturday night to show how much community partnership means, through their support of the Maryvale Night Run.

A team of 21 ENWIN employees and friends lit up the night for youth mental health, and helped to raise more than $33,000 for Maryvale.

The fun-filled evening began with opening remarks from Maryvale’s Executive Director Connie Martin, Controller Shannon Bacik and Barbara Peirce Marshall, Corporate Communication and Public Relations Manager for ENWIN.

“We are delighted to support this wonderful organization in its efforts to improve quality of life for some of the young people in our community who need us most,” said Peirce Marshall in a pre-race address to participants. “At ENWIN we believe that we are most powerful when we work together. We are proud of all the ENWIN employees who are here tonight to show their support of Maryvale.”

Wearing one-of-kind Night Run t-shirts and ENWIN Light-up-the-Night LED baseball caps, the youngest participants kicked off the events with the 200 meter & 1K Kids dashes. The 5K family run came next, with participants hitting their stride to the upbeat tunes of DJ Tim and friends, who volunteered for the night. At the finish line, all participants received a medal and refreshments courtesy of Tim Horton's.

The race was a double-win for Lynn Tufek from the ENWIN Night Lighters team.

“I wanted to get my children away from their electronics, and this was an excellent opportunity to do something active as a family and give back to the community,” she commented.

This year’s Night Run attracted more than 400 participants, who together, raised more than $33,000.

“We could not be more pleased with the community support shown at this fun family event,” said Executive Director, Connie Martin. “The money received from this event will go directly to counselling for adolescents in Windsor and Essex County suffering from mental health issues.”

Mental health for children in Ontario is not mandated or protected by legislation, which means funding remains limited, year after year. All proceeds from the night run will benefit Maryvale’s Family Mental Health Treatment Centre in Windsor.

Our sincere thanks and congratulations to all our ENWIN Night Lighters for once again demonstrating your care and dedication to community!
