Powerful Partnership Promotes Safety: ENWIN Joins WFRS During Fire Prevention Week

October 27, 2017

Windsor ON: To support Fire Prevention Week this month, members of the ENWIN safety team joined forces with Windsor Fire and Rescue Services at Devonshire Mall to promote safety awareness in conjunction with WFRS’s 2017 Fire Prevention theme: Every Second Counts, Plan Two Ways Out.

“The safety of our workers and the community has, and always will be our top priority,” said Helga Reidel, President and CEO. “Participating in events like this one provides us with the opportunity to help the public learn something new, and reinforces important safety messages.”

ENWIN’s display at Devonshire Mall spoke to these messages.

Members of the public were able to observe and learn about the dangers of downed wires, understand ENWIN’s six points of electrical safety, and even get a close-up look at the ENWIN drone – a tool which has the capability to help prevent, assess and manage fires.

“Electricity is an important aspect of our everyday lives, but there are times when we forget about its power and its potential for fire-related hazards,” said Jean Pepin, Lead UAV Pilot. “Although it makes our lives easier, we need to keep safety in mind and be cautious while working and living around electricity.”

ENWIN team members were present throughout the three-day event, to answer questions regarding general electrical safety and electrical fire safety.

Many thanks to the ENWIN volunteers who took part in planning and participating in this year’s Fire Prevention Week activities: Jean Pepin, Andrew Murray, Josh Wilson, Joel Rodier, Joe Tonkin, Troy Pollard, Steve McWilliam, Mark Arsenault, Justin Pullyblank, Chris Jaworski, Steve Corriveau, Dan Renaldo, Rod Skill, Sylvia Caruana and Grant Pennington.
