Windsor, ON: A partnership between ENWIN Utilities Ltd. (ENWIN) and the Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) is assisting school food programs by purchasing supplies to help minimize food handling and ensure the safety of children and youths.

Many programs have faced challenges throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and safety and health remain a top priority while costs of supplies continue to increase. Many schools have come to the OSNP with requests for small equipment items that will help ensure COVID-19 requirements are being met.

“ENWIN’s kindness to provide funds for kitchen/serving supplies greatly benefits the food program,” says Teresa Hoffman Sartor, Principal at the Centennial Central Public School. “Serving food in a manner that is safe and hands-free during COVID-19 has been challenging. Our thanks for supporting students across all school systems and helping them find success with food in their tummies.”

ENWIN’s donation will provide items such as paper and plastic bags, small containers, bins, trays, serving utensils, and rolling carts to help transport bins and trays from class to class.

“We are proud to support such an important initiative,” says Barbara Peirce Marshall, Manager Corporate Communications for ENWIN. “Pre-packaging loose items and minimize food handling will help reduce risk to students during this critical time, and the items we are providing will help.”
