ENWIN presents the University of Windsor with the prestigious GreenSTAR Award of Excellence - April 19, 2018

ENWIN presented the University of Windsor with a GreenSTAR Award, in recognition of the university’s focus on conservation and environmental sustainability.  The GreenSTAR Award acknowledges excellence in conservation initiatives, and is awarded to organizations that make conservation and sustainability a key part of their business plan.
ENWIN also presented the University of Windsor with an incentive payment in the amount of $158,690.15 for 885,407KWh of energy savings achieved in 2017, under the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) SaveONenergy programs delivered by ENWIN.
“The university recognizes the value of the environment and of sustainability, and focuses on a goal of constant improvement in the field of energy conservation,” said University of Windsor President and Vice-Chancellor Alan Wildeman.

ENWIN President and CEO Helga Reidel said the company is proud to be able to recognize and reward organizations like the University of Windsor that make conservation a key part of their business plans.
“By working together with our customers, we can help them to participate in the conservation opportunities available to them,” she said. “Partnerships that encourage a sustainable environment benefit our entire community.
”The GreenSTAR Award program was developed by ENWIN to recognize commercial, institutional and industrial customers for making conservation a priority within their organizations.
This is the ninth time ENWIN has recognized a conservation-minded company in Windsor. It is the second GreenSTAR Award to be given to the University of Windsor.
Past recipients include Windsor Regional Hospital, Ground Effects, Hiram Walker & Sons, DJ Galvanizing, Nemak of Canada, Valiant Machine & Tool and FCA Canada Windsor Assembly Plant.
The University of Windsor is one of five Canadian universities ranked among the greenest in North America by the Princeton Review’s Guide to 353 Green Colleges, 2015 edition.
Through major equipment upgrades, the University of Windsor reduced its electricity consumption by more than 885,000 kilowatt-hours in 2017 — enough to power more than 105 homes.  The University of Windsor’s commitment to meeting or exceeding legal requirements and regulatory standards for the environment, makes it a prime example of the kind of organization ENWIN honours through the GreenSTAR program.
